Silver Finish for Aussie Synchro
Australian Synchro pair Shaun Swadling & Aiden Thomas finish second at World Age Games
The Australian Team have had a strong start on the first day of competition at the World Age Championships in St Petersburg. Seven athletes from the team made it through to the final round after a strong showing in the qualification rounds.
The highlight for the Australian contingent was the silver medal win by Shaun Swadling and Aidan Thomas in the Under 19 Men's Synchronised Trampoline. Swadling and Thomas qualified for the final in 5th place, displaying a final routine with exceptional technique and synchronisation to win the silver medal for Australia.
Other finalists included Madeline Johnson and Hannah Sallows in the Under 17 Women's Double-Mini Tramp. Although Johnson qualified for the final in 1st position, a lower degree of difficulty meant she was unable to hold on to her position, finishing in 4th position. In the Under 17 Men's Double-Mini event, Riley Glazebrook displayed exceptional height and accuracy in the qualification round to secure a position in the final round. Glazebrook finished in 8th position. Kaitlyn Duignan and Katrina Yeoman also made the final round of the Under 19 Women's Synchronised Trampoline, finishing 7th.
The competition continues tomorrow with Under 15 Trampoline, Under 19 Double-Mini, Under 13 Synchronised Trampoline, and Under 17 Tumbling events.
