School Programs- LaunchPad
Gymnastics WA along with its affiliated member clubs can offer many opportunities for gymnastics in schools. This may be in expert 'coaching' in any of the 8 gym sports - women's artistic, men's artistic, rhythmic, sports aerobics, sports acrobatics, trampoline, or general gymnastics for all. This may be a one off session or a unit of lessons
The sessions can be held at your school or in the facility where your local affiliated club operates from. A program specific to your needs and the needs of your students, including those with special needs can be developed, and delivered by experience accredited coaches. The school may even like to travel to the State Gymnastics Centre at the Loftus Centre, Leederville.
Gymnastics is the foundation of ALL sport. It introduces and develops the dominant movement patterns that are the framework for all fundamental movement skills.
The Australian Sports Commission together with Gymnastics Australia and their state bodies have developed their national participation growth initiative - LaunchPad. The program gives children the opportunity to participate in positive fundamental movement skill activities with a gymnastic flavour that are sequential, easy to deliver and user friendly. The lessons use minimal equipment so are perfect for the school environment and limited 'gymnastic' knowledge. The program is designed as an 8 week unit but can be adapted to suit. For more information visit the LaunchPad website.
