Australian DMT Team Become World Champions

After years of hard work, Australia's Women’s Double Mini Trampoline team took home gold last night at the 36th FIG Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria. This is their first gold medal since 1988 and the first medal of any kind Australia has won in the event since 2001.

The squad of Cheyanna Robinson (NSW), Carina Hagarty (QLD) and our very own Keara Nel held off strong competition from the United States and Great Britain to secure the title. The squad have trained together since 2019.

Hagarty executed her most difficult pass in the final, which, according to team coach Dr Ben Kelly, “ensured the gold medal position” after solid performances from Robinson and Nel had placed the team in the best possible position for success.

Gymnastics WA wishes to congratulate the whole team for making Australia proud with this incredible achievement.
