What started as a concept for increased participation in gymnastics has grown to an exciting brand, set to launch into clubs across Western Australia this year.
With the support of Healthway, Gym Warriors is a new participation initiative engaging children and young people through fundamental gymnastics movements and activities, harnessing the proven popularity and broader appeal of parkour, free running, Ninja Warriors and obstacle courses.
Gym Warriors is not just a brand but a philosophy and program which empower clubs to deliver participation activities that add their own local flavour and identity to engage their community.
The activities delivered within Gym Warriors allows children, aged 6-12 years old, the opportunity to develop their movement skills in an engaging way through fast-paced, energetic obstacle course circuits. These memorable experiences will create pathways for inspired participants to join their local gymnastic clubs.
Thursday, March 11th saw the Community and Club Engagement Team visit The Academy of Gymnastics in Butler to launch the Gym Warriors program. Children participated in the lesson, learning new skills under trained Academy coaches Luke and Trent (pictured below).
Luke identified the level of enjoyment involved with the Gym Warriors program, “The kids love to have fun and were really engaged from start to finish” .
Trent was also impressed with the new program, highlighting that it’s more than just a session for kids to run around in – “It’s really rewarding. They get fitness, fun and they really start to build new friendships.”
Gymnastics WA has developed a comprehensive suite of resources and support toolkit for member clubs to increase their capability to deliver targeted fundamental and recreational gymnastics within their local communities moving forward. Resources will be made available to affiliated Gymnastics WA clubs in a matter of weeks.
