I recently attended the Women's Artistic Gymnastics Team Future Advanced Camp held at the Australian Institute of Sport, Canberra from 12th – 15th February 2019. Northern Districts Gymnastic Club has been a part of the TFA camps for the last few years and again we had athlete representation.
Chloe Socratous (Level 9 Under) was selected to participate based on her results from last year’s Australian Classic held on the Gold Coast. We are extremely proud of her and also for our club being able to take part in these camps.
Each time I am able to attend camp I gain invaluable knowledge within the High Performance pathway but I can also use implement into my development for National Level athletes.
The National Coach (Mihai Brestyan) was in attendance and we were able to meet with him and listen to his expectations and feedback on our athletes as well as answer any questions we might have from Routines, Physical Testing and Developing our athletes from Level 9 Under through to Future International and then onto Junior and Senior International.
Chloe finished in 3rd place in her Routine Verification in Level 9 Under and also achieved 10 whole points more than her last camp on the National Physical testing. Without these camps we wouldn’t be able to see how we are tracking with other athletes in Australia and it’s an amazing experience for the gymnasts and coaches to share and learn with the best in Australia.
Thank you to Gymnastics WA for providing additional funding to attend the camp through the High Performance Grant. I am extremely grateful to have this opportunity.
