We are currently looking for an Events and Competition Coordinator to join our growing team at Gymnastics WA in Leederville.


To be considered for this role you would need to have a tertiary qualification in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.


You will also need to demonstrate

  • Experience working in the sport and recreation and/or events sector

  • The ability to deliver events, initiatives and/or projects
  • An understanding of preparing and reporting to budgets

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • A passion for volunteers and an understanding of the culture of a volunteer based organisation
  • Current Driver's Licence
  • Working with Children Card

You will be responsible for the planning and delivery of a range of Gymnastics WA events, and activities and will contribute to driving gymnastics initiatives which link to the Gymnastics WA Strategic Plan.


This will include, but will not be limited to
:

  • Coordination of metro and regional events including: planning, preparation, logistics, delivery and evaluation
  • Annual reviews of event structures, policies, manuals, processes and forms
  • Preparing budgets for individual events and activities
  • Setting up required scoring programs for each event and ensuring they meet the requirements of the sport
  • Being involved in the recruitment and retention of volunteers
  • Compiling articles for the Gymnastics WA website, social media and other communication channels when required

The position is a full-time maternity leave contract (76 hours per fortnight). However, a flexible approach to working hours is required, due to the nature of working within a state sporting association. The nature of the position requires some out of hours and weekend work, which is recognised in the remuneration package offered.

Recreational Gymnastics Programs Coordinator

Based in Malaga WA, West Coast Gymnasts is a not-for-profit organisation that has been providing quality gymnastics programs to children of all ages and abilities for over 40 years.

A rare opportunity has become available for a Recreational Gymnastics Programs Coordinator to work alongside a strong, dedicated and loyal team under the guidance of a parent-run Board of Management.

This job shared position (0.75FTE) requires a flexible working mindset as hours will vary dependent on the club’s timetable and staff availability. The successful candidate will be required to coach for a minimum of 21 hours per week, spread across Monday to Saturday (your choice of which five days) between the hours of 9.00am and 7.00pm. The role would include coaching primarily in the afternoons, on Saturdays (all day) and some days in the morning in our Kindergym program.

There will also be times where you’ll be required to work outside of these times, including Sundays when there are community events or competitions on. Hence, our need for a flexible applicant.

As a Gymnastics Australia accredited coach, with a minimum of Intermediate, you’ll be guiding not only young children to develop their skills in gymnastics, you’ll also be mentoring our junior coaches and guiding them through their pathways as a coach, in whichever gymsport they choose. 

Being able to create strong relationships with athletes, parents, staff and volunteers will be highly regarded as the club values working together as a team with the club’s values, mission and vision in mind. A family-friendly, nurturing environment will be a refreshing change for any applicant. 

This position does require physical work and applicants will be expected to move equipment, assist children with their skills (spotting) and stay on their feet, active and engaged during their shifts.

When not coaching, the successful applicant will be required to plan, implement and review lesson plans on a regular basis, carry out equipment safety checks and report to the Committee any issues, coordinate and run inhouse competitions, carry out maintenance and work very closely with the Club’s other appointed Coordinator.

All staff are required to possess a valid Working With Children Check Card and must keep this valid during their employment, must maintain their accreditations, and be willing to grow, develop and participate in ongoing personal development themselves.

Applicants must be legally able to work in Australia. Remuneration will be in line with the Fitness Industry Award and paid at the rate according to the applicant’s accreditation. Penalty rates do apply and are paid accordingly.
