Gym Warriors Project Officer

We are currently looking for someone to join our Leederville team as our part-time Gym Warriors Project Officer.

Gym Warriors is a new participation initiative engaging children and young people through fundamental gymnastics movements and activities, harnessing the proven popularity and broader appeal of parkour, free running, Ninja Warriors and obstacle courses. Gym Warriors is not just a brand but a philosophy and program which empower clubs to deliver participation activities that add their own local flavour and identity to engage their community. Gym Warriors programs are age-appropriate programs to suit the development of fundamental movement and physical literacy in early childhood. Gymnastics WA has developed a comprehensive suite of Gym Warriors resources and support toolkits for member clubs to increase their capability to deliver targeted fundamental gymnastics movement activations and market themselves in the local community.

Gymnastics Western Australia is the peak body for the sport of gymnastics in Western Australia. We provide the opportunity for anyone interested in fun, fundamental movement, fitness and friendships to participate in gymnastics programs, competitions, development programs and activities which are accessible to all, no matter their experience, skill, age or ability level.

Experience with the following is required:
  • Experience working with / interacting with children
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • The ability to deliver classes, events, initiatives and/or projects
  • An understanding of preparing and reporting to activity / event budgets
  • Experience working to KPI's, timeframes and deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • A customer and member focused attitude
  • Current Drivers licence
  • Working with Children's Card and National Police Clearance
  • A minimum Gymnastics Australia Intermediate Coaching Accreditation, Gymnastics for All is desirable
  • A tertiary qualification and preferably some experience in a similar role within sports / recreation or education is desirable

You will play a key role in increasing Gymnastics WA's exposure through participation activities in clubs and schools. The role requires someone who will champion gymnastics in schools, working with children and young people within established gymnastics clubs, but also capable of planning and facilitating workshops, courses, camps and events.

As this role is focused primarily on delivering programs to children (this is not an office/desk role), it will suit someone who is already working in the sport/recreation or education industry.

This will include, but will not be limited to:
  • Driving the promotion, development and delivery of key participation programs namely; Gymnastics for All which includes TeamGym, Free G, Fitter for Life, KinderGym and Gym Warriors
  • Delivering KIDDO and Gym Warrior programs at various locations as required
  • Assisting with the coordination of community events
  • Establishing and fostering relationships with coaches, teachers, and volunteers to promote participation, inclusion and school projects
  • Compiling articles for the Gymnastics WA website, social media and other communication channels
This is a part time position with an anticipated start date of February 2022. However, a flexible approach to working hours is required, due to the nature of working within a State Sporting Association. The nature of the position requires some out of hours and weekend work, which is recognised in the remuneration package offered.

If you think you have the skills and experience we are looking for, APPLY NOW and fill in the online application form here.

Our organisation is committed to protecting children and young people from harm. We require all applicants to undergo an extensive screening process prior to appointment.
