Women's Artistic Gymnastics Coach Mentorship

Gymnastics WA has identified the need to develop coach capability in the development of athletes on the pathway to high performance thus increasing WA’s ability to achieve key results at benchmark events. One of the Gymnastics in WA Strategic Objectives is to provide educational opportunities to assist Western Australian targeted and developing High Performance coaches to build long term capabilities. Targeting aspiring high performance coaches, Gymnastics WA has therefore developed a Coach Mentoring Program, to assist with their development through the pathway.

In supporting the development of Gymnastics WA’s next generation of High Performance coaches, two scholarship is offered to aspiring High Performance coaches to assist with their development within this pathway within the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics coaching arena.

The scholarships provides mentoring support to the suitable coach allowing the successful applicant to gain valuable experience whilst expanding their knowledge and skills through hands-on coaching, in-house education, as well as financial assistance for further professional development opportunities. Successful applicants will be learning alongside world leading coaches and WA’s best gymnasts at the National Centre of Excellence – Perth (NCE).

This opportunity is available for all WAG Advanced or above accredited coaches.

The scholarship will include covering the following:
- Mentor Coaching hours opportunities at the NCE.
          o Applicants will be required to attend a minimum of 20 training sessions over a 40 week period, which will be signed off by NCE – Perth coaches.
          o This may include observing training, coaching activities, spotting, development of individual athlete plans, progress meetings etc to develop understand of complete athlete management
          o Specific schedules will be determined on a one on one basis, working with NCE – Perth staff
          o Additional hours must be arranged personally by liaising with NCE – Perth Program Manager
- Complimentary attendance at the Gymnastics WA Clever Coach Series workshops (2 workshops)
- Complimentary Observer attendance at the WAG Team Future Camp & Coach Development workshops
- Complimentary attendance to the Gymnastics WA High Performance Clinic (full weekend)
- Further training in relation to Athlete Management (daily load, analysis tools, injury management, AMS)
