Bull finishes 5th in Horizontal Bar Final
Australia’s Tyson Bull has placed 5th in the Horizontal Bar Final at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games ending a successful campaign for our Artistic Gymnasts.
In a nerve-wracking session, that saw only 4 athletes complete a full routine, Bull was the fifth gymnast to take to the Bar, scoring an execution rating of 6.666 and finishing with a total score of 12.466.
Starting off with a clean stoop half, into Kovacs and pulls out of the connection. Bull had a clean release sequence with cassina, piked kovacs and yamawaki.
Unfortunately, Bull built up too much speed for the stoop in and came off the bar. Jumping back on the bar to finish his routine, Bull repeated his stoop and finished the routine off nicely with a double layout full twist.
At the end of the night, it was Japanese star Daiki Hashimoto who took out gold ahead of Croatia’s Tin Srbic and Russia Olympic Committee’s Nikita Nagornyy.
Bull made Australian gymnastics history as the first ever Australian men’s artistic gymnast to qualify for an Olympic Apparatus Final.
Congratulations Tyson on your amazing achievement!
