Team Future Advanced Camp joined by dual Olympian Ashleigh Brennan 

Members of the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) Team Future Advanced (TFA) pathways program recently attended an online camp featuring special guest, 2008 and 2012 Olympian, Ashleigh Brennan.

During the two-hour camp, the Olympian turned Exercise Physiologist, guided the group of 28 through a Pilates class, to educate and demonstrate how important muscle movement can be beneficial for gymnasts. The group also had the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session, allowing them to gain incredible insight into the sport from an athlete who not long ago was involved in similar programs.

The camp also included National Squad members, Sidney Stephens and Olena Edmeades ran the group through a warm-up session and provided an insight into their journey to the National Squad; as well as sessions with various coaches who guided the group through sessions on the Uneven Bars, Beam and dance.

Level 9 high-performance gymnasts will have the opportunity to participate in an upcoming TFA camp, to be held on Saturday 29th August.

This session will focus on the concepts of returning to training, performance strategies and several learning areas from the GA High-Performance Pathway Plan.

Online virtual camps provide important resources for gymnasts to continue receiving high-level coaching, while having the ability to connect with coaches, friends and heroes, like Ashleigh Brennan.
